2020 Orchid Giving Circle Semi-finalists

The Orchid Giving Circle® at Texas Women’s Foundation has completed the initial review of applicants for the 2020 grant cycle and are pleased to announce the following 13 semi-finalists being considered for funding.

Executive Director, Rekha Suryanarayana created a program that serves children with special needs.

Grant will be used for a staff retreat. There is an increased need for nonrestrictive funds due to COVID-19 impacts.

Vickery Meadows Youth Development Foundation

Seeks to provide a continuum of support and care to the 7500 youth in the Vickery Meadow neighborhood, beginning with early childhood and continuing through college graduation.

Funds will provide a counselor for mental health support and summer field trips in 2021 for Asian immigrant middle school through college students.

Texas Muslim Women's Foundation

Provides direct services and programming for Asian-American and all women who have survived domestic violence.

Will use funds towards counseling women who are not able to seek help at this time and might require funds to be unrestricted to use for operational costs.

Provides services to enable older adults to live to their fullest potential through nine programs that assist, protect, and connect older adults to needed resources, services, and tools.
This grant request assists older Asians who serve as volunteers with the RSVP and Foster Grandparent programs.

Serves immigrant and refugee families with free educational programs including Adult English Literacy, Early Childhood, and Student Support Services.

Funding will support the English Literacy Programs in Vickery Meadow serving 600 adults and 135 young children annually.

The Orchid Giving Circle® Fund at Texas Women’s Foundation is a group of dedicated Asian women, working together to support social change and services for the North Texas Asian community.

Our mission is to increase awareness of the local Asian population, community needs and knowledge about philanthropy. Over the past five years, we have awarded $629,500 in grants for education, domestic violence, healthcare, art & culture and social services.
